Woody are an indie four-piece from Waterford, Ireland, consisting of best friends Craig Dunphy, Alan O'Brien, Colm Dempsey and Cian Weldon. The lads released their debut EP Bananas in 2020 and, staying with the food theme, are currently working on their debut album 'Beans on Toast'.
The band formed in 2014, when Alan, Colm and Craig were ushered together as an act for a school talent show. The lads spent their formative years playing covers of pop songs in country pubs with their ever-reliable roadie Cian Weldon helping them every step of the way.
In 2019, Craig began writing some original songs which were then put into Woody's debut EP 'Bananas' and released in July 2020 through Volcano Predators. With gigs seemingly a thing of the past due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdown, Cian Weldon was left without roadie work so he was promoted to the band's photographer.
In 2021, the three lads noticed how Cian was thriving in his new role as their photographer and decided he earned himself a promotion. So in March, Cian officially joined the band as the drummer and the now quartet began work on their debut album 'Beans On Toast', releasing the title track ‘Beans On Toast’ and its b-side ‘You Don’t Get Me’ in 2022 and the singles ‘Rose!’ and ‘Waiting For You’ in 2023.
