Chrome Heart

  1. Chrome Heart 4:15
Released April 19, 2022
Chrome Heart marks the first release in ten years from The Walls since the ‘Stop the Lights’ album was released in 2012. The band have spent much of the past two years sifting through their recorded archives and compiling an album of rarities and previously unreleased material. An album ‘Stray Sparks’ is due for release later this year.
Chrome Heart describes a sense of emotional detachment and disillusionment with life - a sense of emptiness and unfulfillment. A Chrome Heart is dispassionate and cold. A person is lost in a dark, dank, landscape. They are filled with confusion and unsure of what they seek.

“I’m looking for the light, no I’m looking for love
I’m looking for a fight, I’m looking to stir things up”

The signature Walls guitar riffs are there - penetrating and angular over a steady groove.  The rhythm section of Rory Doyle and Jon O’Connell on drums and bass respectively showcase the subtle confidence of a band at the height of their powers. The overall effect is a moody one with echoes of Joy Division, The National, The Doors, Interpol. The vocals are sombre and sing of a disillusionment with the world.

“Modern life for the lifeless souls is a wallet full of plastic and a pocket full of holes”

The track was mixed by Rob Kirwan (Hozier; PJ Harvey; Editors)
