Donegal native Danny McElhinney, and Dubliner Cormac Curtis, convened as Thewlis in 2020. Danny and Cormac first played together in the indie rock band, Mahogany Men in the nineties.

The Dublin-based duo, named after renowned English actor David Thewlis, have so far released seven singles to streaming services. Their musical style encompasses alternative rock, punk, folk, and dark-toned country.

The Boy Behind Bowie, County Level, A One Day Summer, The Manslaughter Ballad, and The One Before The One have been well-received by critics and have enjoyed enthusiastic radio play both at home and abroad. In 2024 While The Red Light’s On and most recently Jesus Guns Babies was added to their body of work.
