Lowkey Lu is a rapper and music producer based in Limerick, Ireland. Active since the late 2010s, he has released music both independently and through collaborations with artists and producers in Ireland and the United States. His work combines classic hip-hop influences with personal, reflective songwriting and distinctive production.

Lu began performing at open mics in Waterford and releasing demos online, later collaborating with Tom Trihy as A Less Civilized Era. His early work included collaborations with Numberik of AHC Independent, with whom he recorded “Let Me In” at TCR FM before filming its video in Waterford City. The collaboration developed into The Manor Street EP, after which Lu relocated to Limerick to study and continue developing his music.

In 2020, Lu released Something From Nothing, a raw and personal album that received local press coverage from the Limerick Leader and Limerick Post, alongside radio play on WLR FM and OpenTempo FM. The album was released through Equal Eyes Records.

In 2021, Lu expanded his creative collaborations with producers Kieran Hemming and Arryn, based in Galway and Cork respectively. He established the independent label Tuath Dé to facilitate the music he was developing with both producers.

Lu graduated from TUS in 2022 and continued developing his sound, including the release of “Dole Day”, a collaborative production featuring live and studio vocals, live guitar and distinctive production techniques.

From 2022 to 2024, Lu became increasingly focused on live performance, regularly bringing his music to the stage while continuing to write and record. Following a period away from releasing music, he is gradually returning to regular releases, developing a more focused artistic presence through independent production, lyricism and visual identity.
